Brew for Better: A New Youth Coffee Training Programme Launches in Clones

​

Youth Work Ireland Cavan Monaghan is proud to launch Brew for Better, an exciting new youth employability initiative based at The Farm Yard in Clones, made possible through the generous support of SSE.

Brew for Better is much more than a coffee truck. It is a mobile youth training environment designed to equip young people with practical skills, confidence and real-world work experience, helping them progress towards employment, further education or new opportunities.

The programme offers participants the opportunity to complete Certified Barista

Training and Food Safety Training, while developing valuable transferable skills

including customer service, communication, teamwork, problem-solving and

workplace responsibility. Through hands-on learning and supported work

experience, young people will build confidence and gain practical experience in

a real customer-facing environment.

​

Initially operating from The Farm Yard in Clones, Brew for Better will provide a

welcoming and supportive space where young people can learn by doing.

Once the programme has been delivered in Clones, the Coffee Training Truck will

move to a new town, bringing the same opportunities to more young people across

Cavan and Monaghan. This mobile approach ensures the programme can reach

communities where access to practical employability training may be more limited.

As a not-for-profit initiative, all income generated through the Coffee Training

Truck is reinvested directly back into the programme, helping to create sustainable

opportunities for future participants and ensuring the project continues to benefit

local communities.

​

Brew for Better is rooted in the values of youth work, promoting inclusion, participation and personal development. The programme is particularly focused on supporting young people who may face barriers to education, training or employment by providing an accessible pathway to develop new skills, build confidence and gain meaningful work experience in a supportive environment.

Environmental sustainability is also at the heart of the initiative. Brew for Better promotes reusable cups, low-waste practices and community climate awareness, encouraging both participants and customers to make small changes that have a positive impact on the environment.
